Patient Jazmin Saludado, 18, works on a craft project with Adina Bodolay, child life specialist, in Mattel's newly remodeled teen lounge, which now includes a large flat-screen HDTV, egg-shaped reading chairs and an air hockey and pool table.
eens who are hospitalized now have their own space to hang out with friends, listen to music, play games and watch movies. Thanks to a generous donation from Northwestern Mutual and Starlight Children’s Foundation, the teen lounge at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA has been transformed into a cool space with a “coffee shop vibe.”
“Having a relaxing environment where hospitalized teens get to feel normal helps ease stress and supports their overall health and well-being,” said Dr. Sherin Devaskar, physician-in-chief of Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. “We are so grateful to Northwestern Mutual and Starlight Children’s Foundation for making this new room possible.”
