Teens who are hospitalized now have their own space to hang out with friends, listen to music, play games and watch movies. Thanks to a generous donation from Northwestern Mutual and Starlight Children’s Foundation, the teen lounge at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA has been transformed into a cool space with a “coffee shop vibe.”

“Having a relaxing environment where hospitalized teens get to feel normal helps ease stress and supports their overall health and well-being,” said Dr. Sherin Devaskar, physician-in-chief of Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. “We are so grateful to Northwestern Mutual and Starlight Children’s Foundation for making this new room possible.”

The newly remodeled space includes a large flat-screen HDTV, egg-shaped reading chairs and an air hockey and pool table.
