Chase Child Life Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at UCLA and Reception 3/28/11
On March 28th, The Chase Foundation and Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA celebrated the dedication of The Chase Child Life Program at UCLA, renamed in honor of The Chase Foundation's $2.125 million gift to the program. We just presented a check for $50,000 to fund a new outdoor healing garden featuring "clean dirt" for the young patients and their families to enjoy. In addition to several of our board members,  Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz, City Controller Wendy Greuel, UCLA Health System CEO Dr. David Feinberg, Mattel Children's Hospital physician-in-chief Dr. Sherin Devaskar, and program director Amy Bullock were in attendance to celebrate this happy occasion. Following the ceremony in the hospital, The Chase Foundation held a cocktail reception at Napa Valley Grille in Westwood, providing an opportunity for board members and program supporters to mingle with Westwood community members and introduce our work to the residents of our new neighborhood.

Bruin run/walk
Bruin Run/Walk 5/15/11
A group of UCLA students organized a 5k to raise funds for the Chase Child Life Program at Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA. Despite early morning rains, the event was a great success, with over 1,000 runners participating and $80,000 raised for Chase Child Life. The Chase Foundation was on hand to thank the students, runners, and patient families before the race started, and greeted the younger participants at the finish line with bubbles. Thank you to volunteer Synthia Salas for joining us and helping entertain the kids!
HOPE Program's Celebrate Life Event 6/5/11
This year, for the first time, The Chase Foundation participated in the annual Celebrate Life Event at Paramount Studios, organized by the HOPE Program at The CHLA Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. The Celebrate Life event provides an opportunity for current and former patients at the Center to enjoy food and entertainment while receiving valuable information from a number of service organizations. The Chase Foundation booth featured our Alexandra Nechita coloring books and crayons for the kids and brochures and information for the parents. It provided a unique opportunity for The Chase Foundation to interact directly with patients and hospital staff from CHLA, and we received a number of warm greetings from grateful families. Thank you to Robin Richards, Lexi Riemer, Jay Marks, and Zoe Melczer for representing The Chase Foundation at Celebrate Life!
